France has vowed to protect the stability and territorial integrity of Chad and as well accompany the country in a peaceful and democratic transition following President Deby Itno’s tragic departure.

The commitment was taken by French President Emmanuel Macron this Friday April 23 during his tribute message at late Chadian President Idriss Deby Itno’s official funeral ceremony in Ndjamena.

“France will never let anyone question nor threaten the stability and integrity of Chad, either today or tomorrow…” Emmanuel Macron said.

“France will also be there to keep alive, without waiting, the promise of a peaceful Chad that makes room for all its children and all its components. The transition will have this role to play: stability, inclusion, dialogue, a democratic transition and we are and will be at your side…” He added.
