Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration has encouraged those who have taken up arms against the Republic to surrender them, and be received as prodigal sons, stating that their future is not in the bushes.
The Minister made the remark after an in Camera working session with administrative and Security forces in Bamenda on August 19, 2018. He told reporters that the exercise was on the strength of instructions by the Head of State who has instructed administrative and security forces to accompany ELECAM with logistics and security to handle the October Presidential election.
While applauding administrative and security forces working for normalcy to return to the regions, Minister Atanga Nji Paul said some people who escaped the violence rocking the North West and South West regions into the bushes are returning to their villages due to their efforts.
In the end, the Minister revealed that President Paul Biya has ordered the disbursement of funds to reconstruct and refurbish public infrastructure attacked during the socio-political crisis rocking the North West and South West regions.
It should be recalled that over 100 villages have been burnt down according to a recent report from the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy. The Centre blames Cameroonian military for the wanton crimes against humanity.
