Ghana’s Under-23 national team, the Black Meteors, on Tuesday beat their Togolese counterparts 5-1 in the first leg of the African U-23 qualifier played at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.Kwabena Owusu opened scoring in the 20th minute, but that was cancelled by Klidje of Togo before half time.
The fortunes of the home side turned in the 60 minute when Owusu fetched the second goal and Osman Ibrahim got the third in the 67 minute.
Owusu then got his hat-trick when he nodded home the ball to bring the score line to 4-1 in the 70th minute.
Nassam Yakubu Ibrahim of Ghana then added the 5th goal in the 81st minute, putting the Meteors in a comfortable position to qualify to the next stage of the competition.
Ghana will travel to Lome for the return leg on Saturday to determine who qualifies to the next stage of the qualifier.
