The Ghanaian press on Wednesday focuses on the assurance given to President Nana Akufo-Addo that Accra floods will reduce by Dredging Masters, a contracting firm currently dredging the Odaw River, the major cause of flooding in Accra.The Ghanaian Times says the assurance came on Tuesday, when President Akufo-Addo visited the dredging site to inspect the progress of work on the Odaw River dredging project.
Captain Khan, one of the engineers on the project, said the rate of floods in Accra is expected to reduce in 18 days, when enough passage and storage in the river to control the flooding.
President Akufo-Addo also visited another drainage site at Kaneshie First Light drainage construction to inspect the progress of work.
The 600-meter drainage at Kaneshie which is funded by the World Bank, is expected to address the flood situation that periodically hits the area with heavy floods.
The Goldstreet Business for its part, said an amount of $1.166 billion has been spent on gas infrastructure programme being implemented in the Western Region of the country.
