The traditional leader of Ikiliwindi, a village ten kilometres away from Kumba in the South West region is reported to have been kidnapped by suspected gunmen on Tuesday morning, locals say.
According to local reports, he was dragged out of his house early on Tuesday morning and taken to an unknown destination by unidentified gunmen.
The chief is said to be cooperating with security forces to fish out suspected separatists in the area which is set to the angered the men who stormed his house on Tuesday morning and whisked him off, locals say.
Other sources say, the abductors are demanding a 500.000FCFA ransom before the chief is released but much information is yet to filter on this as the whereabouts of the chief is still unknown.
This abduction comes at a time when the whereabouts of the Divisional Officer of Batibo Marcel Namata Diteng are still unknown since he was kidnapped by unknown men on 11 February at the Batibo grand stand.
All search attempts launched have so far been unsuccessful.
