The government of Burkina Faso has ratified financing agreements worth US$32.83 million (equivalent to about 18.06 billion CFA) with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to finance a pastoral programme in the Sahel region of Burkina Faso, an official source has revealed to APA.This funding will contribute to enhancing the food security of vulnerable populations in six regions of the country, including the Boucle du Mouhoun, Cascades, East, Hauts-Bassins, Sahel and North regions.

Ultimately, the programme aims to “improve the competitiveness of the milk and small ruminant sectors by increasing the added value of animal products and creating jobs, especially for youths and women,” the council of ministers announced.
