President Paul Biya, on Wednesday May 24 signed a degree appointing former CAF president, Issa Hayatou to chair the board of the newly created National Football Academy known in its French acronym as ANAFOOT.

ANAFOOT, is a public agency dedicated to promoting professional football in Cameroon. The presidential decree read on national radio did not however give any precision on the agency’s mission. Created in 2014, the football academy is yet to go operational. Hayatou and Enow Ngachu are the first directors of the academy.
Hayatou who was CAF president for over 29 years and a senior FIFA administrator, has said he will bring his top football manging experience to ensure the academy’s success. .
Meanwhile the appointment of Carl Enow Ngachu is seen as a compensation for his hard work and contribution to the growth of female football in the country. Carl Enow Ngatchu took up the management of female football in 2004 and rose to be the most celebrated Head Coach of the Women’s National Football team after propelling the team to the second position in Africa at the end of the 2017 Women African Football organised in Yaounde.
