SDF clash with CPDM in parliament over Hon. Wirba’s arrest warrant

MPs of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, rioted and repeatedly blocked the election of a new executive bureau of the National Assembly last night, in protest of parliament’s lukewarm attitude towards a warrant issue for the arrest of Hon Joseph Wirba who is protected by parliamentary immunity.

The elections however took place with Cavaye Yeguie Djibril re-elected Speaker of the National Assembly. He has occupied the post since 1992.
