Joël Embiid: At The Top oF His Game

  1. The Cameroonian playing with the American basketball club of Philadelphia has become NBA’s top scorer for the 2021-2022 season with 30.6 points on average.

It is surely one of the prominent basketball seasons for Joël Embiid as he is writing his name in American basketball history. The 28-year-old Cameroonian has become the first non-American and first pivot to end as the best scorer of the season in the NBA.

The Philadelphia player is on a growing curve averaging 30.6 points this season. From the top of his 2.13m height, he easily overpower his opponents, dominating aerial challenges. Joël Hans Embid stands out for his offensive assets whose efficiency places him today at the top of his game.

Even the arrival of other players like James Harden this season in the Philadelphia squad did not dismiss him from the courts or discourage him. On the contrary, Embid took it as a springboard and showed that he is the boss with already 68 games played this season.

Games which allowed him to chain the points and pass in front of other tenors of American basketball like Giannis Antetokounmpo (29.9 points) and Luka Donic (28.5 points).

To review such a performance, we must go back to the 1981/1983 season when Moses Malone had obtained an average of 31.1 points at the end of the season.

Joël Embid could go from glory to glory. With a trophy that can be hiding another one, the pivot of the sixers is on the way to obtaine the title of Most valuable player, MVP of the NBA. And there again, he will have before him Nikola Jokik, Giannis Antetokounmpo or even Luka Donic.

Cameroon thus continues to mark its presence in the NBA. The country is well represented with another player like Pascal Siakam who won NBA’s Most Improved Player award with the Toronto Raptors in 2019.
