Karl Toko Ekambi to captain Cameroon against Morocco

Villareal forward Karl Toko Ekambi captain the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon when they face Morocco later today in a 2019 Afcon qualifier.

Head coach Clarence Seedorf has kept to his tradition of rotating the armband since taking over the team as he seeks to get a permanent captain.

“The group is the captain as you would have noticed in our previous matches with different captains. I don’t take it too personal but it is an honour to captain your country,” Karl Toko Ekambi said in his pre-match press conference.

Michael Ngadeu, Choupo Moting and Georges Mandjeck have previously skippered the side in Seedorf’s first three games in charge.

Cameroon, hosts of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations are looking to maintain their top spot in the group against Morocco who are looking for a first ever win against the African Champions.
