Kenya is poised for a new Attorney-General following the resignation of Githu Muigai. The announcement was made by President Uhuru Kenyatta in a terse statement on Tuesday naming Muigai’s successor as Judge Paul Kihara Kariuki.
However, no reason was given for the resignation.
“I have received with regret the resignation of Attorney General Professor Githu Muigai. I thank him for his service for the last six and a half years. I have nominated as his replacement Judge Paul Kihara Kariuki.
Muigai took over from Amos Wako in August 2011 following the promulgation of the 2010 constitution that required him to exit office.
