The Divisional Officer of Batibo who was kidnapped on February 11, 2018 has been assassinated, the Government of Cameroon has revealed.
The Government made the revelation on Wednesday while unveiling a 24-page document on its emergency humanitarian plan to assist victims of the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West Regions of the country.
“Administrative authorities have been regular targets of the terrorists who, in their propaganda, have continued to call for the murder of these representatives of the State,” the government said in the document before confirming the assassination of Marcel Namata Diteng, the D.O of Batibo.
The administrator was kidnapped by unknown armed men at the Batibo grand stand on the morning of February 11, 2018 and taken to an unknown destination.
All attempts by security forces at rescuing his life were futile and nothing has been heard of him till Wednesday when the government finally confimed he had been assassinated.
