Malawi to commission National Fibre Backbone Project

Malawi will on Wednesday commission the National Fibre Backbone Project to enhance information communication and technology (ICT) services in the country.Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholas Dausi said Tuesday, in the capital Lilongwe, that the project will improve the internet footprint and connectivity throughout the country.

“Fast and cheap internet is a prerequisite for enhanced service delivery and development of any nation, including Malawi.”

Malawi can do better in its social economic development if it has a better, cheap and fast internet services, he added.

However, Malawi has the most expensive internet services in the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region.
