Man mistaken for Separatist shot at funeral in Fundong

A man was mistakenly shot and killed by soldiers on February 10 at a funeral in Meli, a village in Fundong, Boyo Division in the North West region of Cameroon.

Mejang Calistus, 32, was shot after soldiers broke in a funeral in search of a suspected separatist whom they had been alerted was at the scene.

Calistus, a carpenter by profession was was gripped by fear as he attempted to leave the scene when the soldiers stormed the funeral ground and ordered all to lie on the floor

He was shot to dead on the spot while the security officers succeeded to lay hands on some suspects whom they carried away for investigations

The corpse of Mejang Calistus was transported to the mortuary of the Fundong district hospital.
