Officials of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement on Friday officially deposited the files of their flag bearer for the 2018 Presidetial election, Maurice Kamto at the head quarters of the electoral board, Elections Cameroon-Elecam.
The party’s treasurer Alain Fogue and a frontline supporter Dr. Okala Ebode were received by Elecam’s Director General Erik Essousse, who officially registered the CRM’s candidate.
“We reminded Elecam on their responsiblities and rights to remain neutral during this election. The task has never been as important as now given the situation our country is going through (…) we also read and analysed some provisions of the electoral code including the aspect of voting in the (military)barracks. We called on Elecam to settle this issue fast,”Pr. Alain Fogue told the media after depositing the files.
The delegation from the Cameroon Renaissance Movement proceeded to the Constitutional Council where they dropped a copy as required by law.
The Cameroon Renaissance Movement dropped their file after the Secretary General of the ruling party, the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM dropped that of Paul Biya, 85, who is seeking a seventh mandate in office.
Elecam is expected to publish the list of candidates to run for the Presidential election on July 19.
