Netanyhu proposes Africa-Israel coalition against terrorism

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has proposed the creation of a strong coalition with Africa to fight terrorism.Addressing West African regional leaders at the 51st Ecowas heads of state summit in Monrovia, Liberia on Sunday Mr. Netanyahu warned of the growing wave of terrorism which is claiming more lives around the world including in Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, France and in the last couple of hours London in the United Kingdom.

He called for concerted efforts between Africa, his country and the rest of the world to fight the scourge which, according to him, knows no bounds and should be reined in before it unleashes more havoc on innocent people.

“Terrorists worship death, murder indiscriminately, but they will not frighten us.  We must join forces to fight and defeat them” Netanyahu vowed.

Referring to the determination of Africa to shed its “ugly past of colonization, slavery and horrific wars” the Israeli leader claimed the continent wields great potential that could be harnessed to constructively change the story of its people.

According to Mr Netanyhu Israel and Africa have a lot in common, claiming that his country’s people like those of the continent were denied independence, enslaved and colonized with devastating consequences.

In a speech which also heralded his country’s changing policy toward the continent the Prime minister declared: “Israeli is coming back to Africa and Africa is coming back to Israel. I believe in Africa and its potential and strength; our relationship with Africa is a top priority”.
