According to reports from state media, CRTV, the health workers at the Ngaoundere Regional Hospital are striking over poor working conditions and demanding better management of resources.
The report equally states that, the workers are decrying heavy work load due to insufficient staff and salary cut.
The strike was purportedly triggered when a staff delegate in possession of a petition was severely beaten by a hospital guard. In reaction, the staff immediately began the protest asking for better working conditions .
Meanwhile, Mohammadou Hassimeh, the Director of the Hospital has described the protesters as instigators of violence. The strike action has left patients in disarray and desperate for a lasting solution to be sought.
