The Head of State Paul Biya on Sunday left Cameroon for a “brief stay” abroad, a statement signed by the Director of Civil Cabinet at the Presidency Samuel Mvondo Ayolo read.
Paul Biya wil be accompanied for the brief stay abroad by his wife Chantal Biya, the statement added.
The Head of State’s private visits are always a mystery and it is not clear when he will return to Cameroon but it is certain he will be back on time before campaigns for the Presidential election kick off.
Paul Biya who is seeking re-election for a seventh term is opposed to eight other candidates though a petition has been filed at the Constitutional Council for his candidacy to be annulled.
Victory in the October 7 polls will extend his 35-year stay in office pass the 40-year mark.
