Waterproofing activities took place on the deck of the second bridge over the Wouri last week.
The 820 metres long bridge is expected to reduce traffic congestion on the already worn out existing bridge constructed by France more than sixty years ago. Constructed to carry 2000 vehicles daily, the old bridge now carries more than 45,000 vehicles per day.
On November 14, 2013, President Biya laid the foundation stone for the construction of the second bridge which works were expected to be completed within a 36-month deadline. The group of companies however could not meet the deadline due to several reasons including an accident which occurred on the construction site in 2015.
