SACU delegates observe moment of silence for Namibia, Botswana

Heads of State attending the Southern Africa Customs Union (SACU) meeting in Swaziland observed a moment of silence in honour of two deceased political icons of the region.The delegates on Friday honoured Botswana’s former President Sir Ketumile Masire and Namibia’s former struggle icon Herman Andimba Toiva ya Toiva who both died in the week.

Calling for the one-minute bow was Swaziland’s Finance Minister Martin Dlamini who was programme director at the event.

SACU chairman King Mswati III also expressed condolences on behalf of the regional body saying the due played a significant role in the development of the region.

Sir Masire died at the age of 91while in hospital and Toivo ya Toivo died at the age 93 in Windhoek, Namibia.
