Security forces battle separatists in Ekok

Security forces were involved in a shootout with Separatist forces last night

There was fierce shooting between security forces of and separatist fighters throughout Sunday night in Ekok, a border town between Cameroon and Nigeria.

According to locals, sounds of gunshots were first heard at about 9.pm late on Sunday night as the fighters advanced through on Ekok.

This prompted a reaction from the security forces who were on alert as the two camps exchanged continuous fire late into the night.

The shootings only stopped in the early hours of Monday morning though no casualty has yet been established on both sides.

The shootings in Ekok followed that from Kembong on Sunday morning that left at least three soldiers dead and several others injured.
