South Region: Elites contribute 120m FCFA for Anglophone crisis victims

Elites of the South Region have contributed One Hundred and Twenty Million Francs CFA (120.000.000 fcfa) in support of the victims of the ongoingoing violence in the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon.

Meeting in Ebolowa on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Higher Education Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo, the elites of the South Region have contributed for the Emergency Humanitarian Assistance plan unveiled last week for victims of the Anglophone crisis.

The 120 million francs was handed over to the Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji who is the National Coordinator of the plan.

This follows up from elites of the North West and South West Region who launched the Humanitarian Emergency Assistance plan last week with the sum of 236 million francs cfa.

The Emergency plan that was unveiled last week in Yaounde by Prime Minister Philemon Yang seeks to mobilise funds to assist victims build their houses, provide health facilities as well as education.

According to the United Nations, at least 161.000 persons have been displaced internally as a result of the crisis while over 21.000 persons have been officially registered as refugees in Nigeria.
