The Federation of Football association FIFA has decided to suspend activities of football in Sudan following government interference in election of Sudan Football association (SFA), reports said on Friday.There was fear that Sudan football would be suspended after a group backed by Government and led by a Former Sudan’s Defense minister Abdo AL Rahman Ser-Alkhatem was declared a winner of SFA, despite an ordered by FIFA to Suspend the The Elections for six months following fears of political interference.
One month later it was reported police officers with an order from Sudan’s ministry of Justice evacuated the main building of SFA and chased the original Heads before handing it over to the government group.
According to a letter sent to Sudanese official from FIFA and published on Sudanese media on Thursday, the situation of Sudan Football association SFA was referred to the bureau of FIFA council on 27 June 2017.
“The bureau of FIFA council also was briefed on the announcement made by the SFA on 2 June 2017, that the undersecretary of ministry of Justice had issued a decree on 2 June 2017, allegedly giving the police the right to access to evacuate the building and expel members of the Board director and to use force if necessar”, The letter said.
“The decision of the suspension is “immediate effect from 30 June 2017, and would only lifted once ministry of justice’s decision to evacuate the building is declared null or void and the Board director of SFA, with its president Motasem Jaafer is reinstated”, The letter added.
In 15 June a delegation of FIFA arrived in Sudan’s capital Khartoum and investigated about the election. They held meetings with The Minister of Youth&sport, Dr Abdul Karim Musa in presence of the current president of Sudan Football association (SFA), Dr Mutasim Jaafar And several numbers of his group, in which the minister underlined the need to reach a solution to avert any threat of freezing Sudan football activities
