The University of Buea chapter of the Higher Teachers’ Trade Union, SYNES has threatened to march on the streets if the decision to strip off the the Buea mayor of his ‘fake cerftificates’ is not implemented.
The trade unionists issued their threat after an extra ordinary meeting to back the decision of the University of Buea Senate to strip Patrick Ekema Esunge of his certificates obtained from the University of Buea on grounds of fraud.
Despite a recent injunction from the court forbidding the University of Buea to stop all procedures as well as publicly discussing the matter, SYNES has insisted the ruling by UB’s Senate remains valid as they said certificates are awarded in academin institutions and not in court.
The University of Buea during its 73 ordinary senate session unanimously decided to withdraw Patrick Ekema Esunge’s Bachelor and Masters degree after fraudulently gaining admission into the institution.
According to sources, the Senate made its investigations at the GCE Board where it was revealed the Buea mayor did not have the required qualifications to gain admission into UB.
Sources also say the Mayor also failed to show up when given the chance by the senate to explain himself on his pre-University certificates.
The Senate’s decision has since been forwarded to the Ministry of Higher Education for final action.
