Cameroon:traditional ruler arrested in NW region

The Fon of Kup, a village in Nkambe, Donga Mantung Division of the North West region was on Wednesday arrested by security forces from his palace, sources have confirmed.

HRH chief Nfor Edward Nfor was arrested and taking for questioning but the reasons for his arrest are still unknown but villagers confirmed he was ferried in a military van to Nkambe.

Sources however say, the fon is suspected of conniving with armed men in the area while other sources suspect a conspiracy against the Fon.

The Fon was reportedly questioned on Thursday morning but nothing filtered and it is not clear when and if he will be released, sources said.
