The competition is set to run from February 14 to March 4 with Cameroon and Mauritania playing the opening game of the tournament.

Last week, Cameroon called up eight foreign-based players to reinforce the team that has been training for the past two weeks at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo.

The team has equally been joined by Marc Atangana Amougou who was among the ten players retained in the reserve list of the Intermediate Lions.

The competition was expected to serve as qualifiers for the 2021 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia but the global tournament alongside the U17 World Cup in Peru, have been cancelled due to health and safety concerns in relation to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ordinarily, the top four teams at Afcon would have represented the continent at these World Cups.
