The new Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, UB, Prof. Horace Ngomo Manga has enjoined the new Directors and Deans of the higher education institution to uphold the spirit of team work, hard work and above all, respect for hierarchy.
The call was made as he installed some officials to their various functions recently appointed by Presidential Decree No 2017/320 of 27 July 2017. The VC further called on the newly installed officials to engage with other people to work so that they can achieve their full potentials.
“You must provide leadership in areas such as infrastructure and campus operations. UB has a commitment to educate society through knowledge transfer,” he stated. While hailing those are going out, the VC called on the incoming to go close to their predecessors by tapping into their vast experience.
“They are not the first people to occupy such a position they are vacating. Do not be afraid to go close to them and asking for guidance and assistance, to avoid their pitfalls and boost your own success,” he advised.
A word of thanks from the VC was extended to the outgoing officials for their invaluable contributions and support in making UB A Place To Be.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Horace Ngomo Manga called on those appointed to uphold UB’s commitment of excellence and a citadel of lerning which revolves around teaching, training and support, which can only be possible if there is respect for norms and transparency.
To the new Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, FAVM, Dr. Ernest Molua, he said the appointment is a call to duty, a call to serve and he was ready for the challenge.
“The Faculty is a young one, created in January 2010, and now is the time for it to go to the community and for the community to see us (FAVM),” he said.
He further added that there is need for modernization in teaching at the Faculty.
“We have to train young Cameroonians in such a way that they can use this knowledge in the field practically”.
On his part, the Director of Development, Physical Land and Infrastructure, Agbor Dieudonné Agbor, said he has been given a huge challenge but he will overcome it.
“My predecessor did a good job and implemented some measures which I believe in and plan to follow. Where there are challenges, I will make sure they are solved.”
In all, five persons were installed to their various functions – a Dean and the others Directors. They include: Dean of FAVM, Dr. Ernest Molua Lytia; Director of Development, Physical Land and Infrastructure, Agbor Dieudonné Agbor; Director of Students Affairs, Nana Engo Serge Guy; Director of Financial Affairs, Epoge Napoléon Kang; and Director of Academic Affairs, Ayu’nwi Neba Ngwabe.culled from The Voice
