A network of Trade Promotion Agencies (OPC) of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) will soon be
launched in Dakar, Senegal by the Geneva International Trade Center (ITC).This will be done in collaboration with the UEMOA Commission, the Senegalese Export Promotion Agency (ASEPEX) says.
According to Astou Winnie Beye, the Head of the ASEPEX Communications Department, the launch is part of the EU-funded Competitiveness and Regional Integration (PACCIR/UEMOA) Project.
The objective is to validate and sign the memorandum of understanding and the annual work plan of the planned network.
A workshop will be organized to enable OPCs from the region to exchange views on the best practices in network management with regional representatives of OPCs in Latin America and Asia and the Pacific, as well as the possible
signing of partnerships.
“The OPCs of the network will also be able to benefit from training in the collection of commercial information and the digitization of products online, in order to be able, at a second stage, to update the
regional portal for commercial information and e-commerce, which will be created as part of the project,” Mrs. Beye says.
PACCIR/UEMOA is an 18-month project funded to the tune of €3million by the EU through the 10th European Development Fund (EDF), whose objective is to contribute to the creation of an efficient
common market and the gradual integration of the West African region
into the world economy for inclusive and sustainable development.
