Vodafone Director rebukes Telecommunications Minister, says company is legal

Antoine Pamboro, Director General of Vodafone Cameroon has reacted to Post and Telecommunications Minister’s claims on his company.

Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng had accused Vodafone of operating illegally in Cameroon.

Reacting to the claims on French Daily La Nouvelle Expression, Vodafone’s Director General accused the Minister of bad faith stating the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications is informed of its existence in the country. “We had discussions with the minister. She has all the documentation which shows that Vodafone operates through a valid license, issued by the competent authorities. The minister is fully aware of our operations in Cameroon” he said.

Antoine Pamboro said the Minister had signed an agreement for the company to operate in Cameroon under the Vodafone brand. “All rights since the issuance of this license dates back to 2010. They have been regularly paid,
