Cameroon’s senior female handball team has qualified for the quarter finals of the ongoing Senior Women’s Handball Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON played at the Yaounde Multi-purpose Sports Complex.
They picked their qualification ticket Thursday June 10 after urging their Nigerian counterparts 31 goals to 19 during an encounter that was quite tough in the first half ending on 14-13.
In the second half, the lionesses appeared more determined as they outscored Nigeria to win 31-19.
Tomorrow Saturday June 12, the girls of Serge Christian Guebego will face DR Congo which also grabbed its qualification ticket for the quarter finals after defeating Kenya 42 goals to 12 in their second fruitful encounter yesterday.
Tomorrow’s match will equally determine who between Cameroon and DR Congo will lead Group B, given that in two group outings, both teams recorded two victories.
In Cameroon’s first encounter last Tuesday after the opening ceremony, the lionesses humbled their Kenyan counterparts 40 goals to 16.
The competition that kicked off last June 8 is slated to end on June 18.
