Aboubakar scores Serbia

The World Cup in Qatar ended on Sunday with Lionel Messi’s Argentina beating Kylian Mbappé’s France. It’s time to vote for the most beautiful goal scored during the tournament.

Vincent Aboubakar’s solo effort against Serbia, Argentina’s Enzo Fernandez’s number against Mexico and Kylian Mbappé’s curled shot against Poland… there have been many beautiful goals at this World Cup 2022.

The day after Lionel Messi’s Argentina won the title, it’s time to vote for the most beautiful goal of this World Cup in Qatar. Who will succeed Benjamin Pavard, author of an anthological half-volley against the Albiceleste in 2018 and who was elected the most beautiful goal of the competition in Russia?

If the Indomitable Lions did not manage to get out of the group stage, they have nevertheless left their mark on this World Cup 2022. In addition to their prestigious victory over Brazil in the third and final group match, the Cameroonians scored a sublime goal through Vincent Aboubakar against Serbia. The striker was on the verge of offside and took out his defender with a sublime feint, before squaring the ball past the goalkeeper with a perfectly executed cross. The Cameroonian striker is in pole position to win the award for the best goal of the tournament.

But the competition promises to be tough with the presence of several international stars such as the French Kylian Mbappé, runner-up and top scorer of this World Cup, the Brazilian Neymar (who has two goals in the tournament like Aboubakar) or the Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez, world champion at only 21 years and elected best young player of the competition. The closing date for voting is 22 December. Anyone can participate, without having to register on Fifa.com or the official FIFA app.

Each fan can only vote once, according to the rules of the game. Since 2006, FIFA, in partnership with South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai, has been organising a public vote to elect the most beautiful goal of the World Cup. In 2018, France’s Benjamin Pavard, who scored a stunning half-volley against Argentina, was voted the best goal of the tournament in Russia.
