Yaounde: Gov’t suspends classes at Ekoudou primary school

The government of Cameroon has suspended classes at Ekoudou Primary School.

This following a stampede which led to the death four pupils yesterday March 21 at the school, located in the Briqueterie neighborhood in Yaounde.

Following the tragedy, the Secretary of State for Basic Education, Ndong Soumhet, held a crisis meeting with mothers of the deceased and some officials to determine the circumstances which caused the disaster. In the end, classes at the school was suspended while investigations still ongoing.  “There are nine others who are still under medical supervision. An investigation was ordered by the DO. An autopsy was also ordered. It will be done by forensic doctors, “.
